Description
Cultivate a piece of Scandinavian charm with Hesselbækgård Mint. Originating from Denmark, this herb offers far more than the classic mint flavour and aromatic leaves. Superb for teas, and good too for culinary uses, and as an ornamental addition, Hesselbækgård Mint adds a touch of Denmark to your outdoor space. Chilgrove mint collection states it as being Swedish, but given Hesselbækgård garden centre opened as a nursery in 1981, near the Swedish border it could easily have made its way to the UK via Sweden. I would be inclined to suggest that it is, in fact, Japanese Mint, Mentha arvensis Var. piparescens, despite the slightly different leaves in this strain. The leaves being opposite, rounded, bright light green petiolate. And full of wonderfully complex flavours, including linalool and carvone, as much as menthol.
