Description
This is a notoriously mystical mint – its origins, its taxonomy – everything about it is confusing… rotundfolia is often misapplied, some say it is a spicata x suaveolens variant, sometimes even being erroneously named nemorosa. Nevertheless, Mojito Mint is classically known as the official mint of the Cuban beverage, the mojito. An aromatic Mint with deep undertones, Mojito tastes great with lime and can be used to season lamb and other meats. It is of course the famous Herba Bueno, and has the most perfect smokey, earthy smell and flavours that compliment the sweetness of the carribbean drink. Regardless, of whether one believes that the drink was invented by Sir Francis Drake (‘El Draque’), was already an indigenous drink, or was created at ‘La Bodeguita del Medio’ – Ernest Hemmingway’s haunt – the mother plant we have came with the story that the original cutting came from the latter. True or not – it makes a great ‘cocktale’.
